From Salvador Dali (1955), to Andy Warhol (1986)and later on to Susan Dorothea White (1988), Da Vinci's famous mural "The Last Supper" has known plenty of variations in art, as well as a diversity of references in modern culture.
Among all of its contemporary interpretations in media ranging from painting to illustration or digital art, I've chosen three paintings which I believe share not only an obvious powerful figurative style, but also a caustic and modern way of depicting their subject reflecting at the same time on major sociopolitical issues of their time.
